AT THE HALF: OSU 38 CCSU 17

By John Chandler

For all of the excitement of March Madness, Rupp Arena sure is quiet. This place seats close to 24,000 and it is nearly full. I see a lot more scarlet than I thought I would, considering UK season ticket holders were offered the overwhelming majority of tickets, but save for two enthusiastic rows of 14 seats across most of that scarlet is keeping their seats warm.

OK, it's not quite the Rocky River Library in here, but then it's not the Schottenstein Center, either.

After a brief dunk contest between Ron Lewis and Javier Mojica, Ohio State has put some padding between them and the Devils. Gotta say, there's something about Mojica that's impressive. His eyes are wide, and his motor's running. That said, Lewis won the contest with a hammer down the lane to push the lead to 27-15.

We talk a lot about Greg Oden, but Othello Hunter's no slouch. The junior forward gets lost in the shuffle at times, but he's a player. He jumped off the bench to score 4 quick points, and an Oden-esque block on a runner in the lane.

After withstanding a mini-run from the Devils (and that may be kind) the Buckeyes are clicking. Good ball movement, good rotation, and...

...good grief, what a shot!

Daequan Cook canned a step back three from just inside the "UK" on the court to beat the halftime buzzer. Ohio State 38 CCSU 17. Thanks for playing, Devils.

We'll call the second half merely a formality.
